A woman has sparked a fierce debate over the colour of a coat she showed off online.
Tina Abeysekara regularly shares outfit inspiration on her blog, Trash to Treasured, “the home of affordable fashion”, including different ways to style a vest top, wide-leg trousers and the most flattering swimwear for every body type.
But it was a “green trench” that’s caught the attention of her 117,000 followers on Instagram.
The Australian blogger featured the Marks & Spencer ‘Double Breasted Trench Coat’ in one of her recent styling videos (which has since been removed), and it left her followers confused over the colour.
The water-resistant coat is described as “pale apple” on the Marks & Spencer website where it’s retailed at £55.
But with so many people telling Tina that it was another colour entirely, she was forced to talk about it in another post, reports news.com.au, where she said: “It is definitely green, a few of you were saying they see grey.”
Referring to a comment Tina received about the coat, she said she believed it to be an “eye trick” similar to the white and gold dress that got everyone talking in 2015.
Since the “rainy and miserable” lighting was affecting what everyone could see, Tina decided to move her mirror to different parts of her house so her followers could see the true colour in all of its glory.
And it turned out that the coat was most certainly green.
Tina isn’t the only influencer who left their followers baffled by the colour as Paige Carmichael also posted a picture wearing it.
“Is it green? I thought it was grey?” commented one woman.
Another added: “Green? I see grey.”
